WJFC President in the news

AFL

Jason Johannisen (2009 WJFC Junior Life Member) is picked up by the Western Bulldogs as pick #39 in the Rookie Draft. He has played 23 games in the VFL, kicking 16 goals and being involved in the Footscray VFL Premiership in 2014.  Johannisen has played 142 games with the Bulldogs from 2012 and has kicked 47 goals to date. He was awarded the Tony Libratore award for the most improved player in 2015. Johannisen was a player of the Western Bulldogs 2016 Premiership team with his 25 kicks, 33 disposals and 7 marks being deemed a best on ground performance and he was accordingly awarded the Norm Smith Medal. He is still playing with the Western Bulldogs in 2021 and is contracted until 2022.

WAFL

Ryan Lester-Smith (2009 WJFC Junior Life Member) recruited to East Fremantle FC and plays 102 games from 2011 to 2020 and is currently in the 2021 league list. Lester -Smith has kicked 90 careers goals to date. He has picked up Sandover Medal votes in 2013-3, 2014-2 and 5 in 2016.
